1.
The best way to show empathy is to relate. It is important to put ourselves in the children’s shoes. Think of how your tool of choice would relate and engage your children. My tool of choice is Kahoot! Who doesn’t love to play games! This app gives you the opportunity to create games using the curriculum of your choice. You also have the option to use games already created. The vibrant colors of the tool will also catch the eyes of your students. The kids of your classroom would be able to answer question through any held hand device.
2.
This is all about getting your students to ask good quality questions. I would assign a homework assignment through Kahoot. I would implement a multiple-choice question. In the instructions I would tell the students that there are two correct answers. This way the student who may have only found one correct answer to the question would come back to class asking how to get the second possible answer.
3.
We all have a time of the year where our students are starting to check out of school. This tool is the best way to keep the kids engaged because they can participate in class through an electronic device. I would also encourage and give my students the opportunity to create their own Kahoots. We will play the Kahoots in class created by their peers.
4.
Networking is important for teachers and students. This tool encourages students to share their Kahoots rather it’s across the classroom or across the world.
After a game, encourage players to create and share their own kahoots to deepen understanding, mastery and purpose, as well as engage in peer-led discussions. When a learner becomes a leader, that’s a true magic moment!
5.
As I mentioned before this tool gives you the opportunity to share your kahoots with people around the world. I would have a day in class where we view someone’s Kahoot from another school who may have be doing something like what we discussed using the tool. We would pick the difference and similarities to how we did our Kahoot.
6.
Students always take pride in their work. When you let your students become creative the feel important they are also becoming leaders in their own learning.
7.
If I would run into an issue with the a Kahoot that I created. I could always go back into the Kahoot I created and modify it to fit the needs of my children.
8.
It is important to reflect on our assignments and what the students liked and did not like. I would ask the students what they did and did not like about Kahoot. What would they like to different using the tool. It is important as an educator to know these things to better plan for next time.
